Matroosberg

Ok ….. I needed a new car, so Ronnie my good friend talked me into buying a 4x4. and my son and his wife being an adventures couple arranged a visit to Matroosberg Nature Reserve to go on the 4x4 trail and see some snow…What an experience. Breath taking views and very exciting for a first time trip on a 4x4 trail.

Matroosberg
Base camp. Have been told to let the tyres down to 1.5 bar pressure. When this photo was taken we did not know how far we were going or how difficult it would be. Once you set off there was no turning back, It is all one way going up and at 1 pm y
This was the first up hill section, steep incline on solid rock also slanting side ways…. If we could I would of turned back at this stage. But the car handled it well in low 4x4 mode.
What a view !!!….. starting to understand why people do this .
Starting to get snow on the track….. scary stuff…. Getting lots of respect for the car.
Getting close to the summit, nearly 2000 m high.
There down in the valley one can see the Ski Lodge.
Ski slopes ….loook carefully you can see Ski lifts.
Yes…..yes…. We have reached the top…. Lots of snow…slip sliding away….
Ok….we have a two hour wait …. Before we can start heading back. Relax…take in the view and build a snow man.
 Looking pretty…… and warm.
Brisk walk before we start to head back, the snow is deep and crispy, one feels like we are in the Alps in Europe.
So if you have nothing to do on a Saturday…. and you feel like some excitment….. why dont you try thr 4x4 trail at Matroosberg Nature Reserve.
